Global Poster Gallery at the London Transport Museum

Member Peter Robinson has been in touch to let us know about the new Global Poster Gallery, a new permanent gallery which recently opened at the London Transport Museum.

The gallery launches with a a blockbuster exhibition, How to Make a Poster – there are a series of interesting videos on the exhibition page, including Sarah McMenemy and Paul Catherall talking about the process of making posters for London Transport.

The Society has some recent history with the London Transport Museum. In 2017 we visited the London Transport Museum’s Depot in Acton, where we got the chance to see many of the original artworks for Transport for London’s posters. (You can see pictures on our Event Photographs page. And if you missed that trip, there are tours available over the coming year.) And in January 2018 we heard from Abram Games’ daughter, Naomi Games, about her father’s beautiful design work, including many posters for the then London Transport.

Peter has suggested a members’ visit to the new gallery / exhibition – if you’re interested in that, drop Alistair a line on alistair@wemadethis.co.uk.
