Moving home
The Wynkyn de Worde Society is leaving its long-term home at Stationers’ Hall and relocating to Goodenough College – mainly due to the Society’s wish to contain steeply rising costs.
The Great Hall at Goodenough College is located in leafy Mecklenburgh Square in the heart of Bloomsbury, not too far from The Art Workers’ Guild.
The spirit of Goodenough chimes with our own. Established in 1930, they have a community ethos and were the first to set up a student residence in London for international postgraduate students of any nationality. Sir Herbert Baker, the architect of Goodenough, attached a great deal of importance to craftsmanship and his buildings show a very strong influence from the Arts and Crafts Movement. In addition, its location in Bloomsbury is a perfect fit for all the diverse strands and interests of our Society. It’s the home of The British Museum and several educational institutions, including University College London, not to mention the historic association with The Bloomsbury Set of artists and intellectuals.
With this relocation, the Society is entering a new and exciting era, enabling us to forge a new path that offers huge opportunities.
