New member: Theo Hersey
Theo Hersey is a letterpress printer & graphic artist working at The Typography Workshop.
His practice centres on producing letterpress-printed typographic work, creating both bespoke commercial and personal works. Having trained under Alan Kitching, from whom he acquired his workshop in 2022, he continues the legacy of the workshop and endangered craft of letterpress in the UK, while shaping it through his own contemporary approach.
For Theo, the process of slowing down and typesetting by hand offers a necessary counterpoint to the speed of the digital world. Working methodically, yet creatively within the constraints of the process, he produces considered, characterful typographic work — shaped, in part, by the workshop’s extensive collection of typefaces.
Alongside his studio practice, Theo runs regular letterpress workshops for all experience levels.
Theo was proposed for membership by Sallyanne Theodosiou and seconded by Justin Hobson.
